The Hundred 2022: music line-up announced for sporting event, and ticket details for games in Manchester

Action-packed cricket competition The Hundred is set to return this year and promises a summer of world-class sport and unmissable musical performances.

In its first year in 2021, the event attracted some of the biggest names in UK music, including Becky Hill, Everything Everything, and Self Esteem, plus breakthrough acts such as Sports Team, and Lauran Hibberd, who is now on everyone’s playlists.

Manchester Originals star, Sophie Ecclestone, said: “The music last year was amazing. Lizelle and I even had time for a little dance to Becky Hill during the opening game! It added so much to the competition and showed The Hundred is all about unmissable action on and off the pitch.”

The line-up for 2022 is set to be an equally big hit with new and existing fans of the game.

What is The Hundred?

The Hundred is cricket’s high-octane competition which fuses world-class sport with spectacular entertainment.

The competition gives fans the chance to watch some of the best players in the world compete alongside epic music performances in a high-energy, family-friendly environment.

It features eight teams from seven cities, with men’s and women’s competitions taking place side by side.

Teams include Welsh Fire (Cardiff), Southern Brave (Southampton), Northern Superchargers (Leeds), London Spirit, Trent Rockets (Nottingham), Oval Invincibles (London), Manchester Originals and Birmingham Phoenix.

Each team features some of the best international and domestic cricketers from around the world, with England Men’s & Women’s World Cup winners participating.

When and where is the Hundred taking place?

The Hundred Kicks off on 3 August, with the final scheduled for 3 September.

The competition will take place in front of audiences at some of the UK’s largest cricket grounds, including Manchester’s Emirates Old Trafford.

The cricket grounds hosting the event include:

  • Lord’s (London)
  • The Kia Oval (London)
  • Edgbaston (Birmingham)
  • Sophia Gardens (Cardiff)
  • Headingley (Leeds)
  • Ageas Bowl (Southampton)
  • Trent Bridge (Nottingham)

Manchester Originals’ home fixtures at Emirates Old Trafford are:

  • Friday 5 August - Manchester Originals vs Birmingham Phoenix (Men’s start 6:30 pm)
  • Saturday 13 August - Manchester Originals vs Trent Rockets (Women’s start at 11 am, Men’s start at 2:30 pm) 
  • Tuesday 16 August - Manchester Originals vs Welsh Fire (Women’s start 3 pm, Men’s start 6:30 pm)
  • Wednesday 31 August - Manchester Originals vs Oval Invincibles (Women’s start 3 pm, Men’s start 6:30 pm)

Who is on the music line-up for The Hundred?

The line-up is topped by multi-platinum selling English pop-rock band Bastille, who will take to the stage at The Hundred men’s and women’s final at Lord’s on Saturday 3 September.

Other acts performing at venues across the country include Samm Henshaw, English Teacher, Priya Ragu, Katy J Pearson, Jordan Macampa, Tamera, Queen Millz, Casey Lowry and many more.

The line-up also sees Emirates Old Trafford set to host some of the most exciting names on the UK music scene, including The Lottery Winners and Phoebe Green.

The Lottery Winners, who will perform at Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester on 13 August, said: “Manchester is where we started out, and there is something very special about coming back to play shows here. To be performing at such an iconic venue as part of this unique sporting entertainment event is just so exciting – we’re thrilled to be involved.”

How much are tickets and how do I get hold of them?

Early bird tickets for Manchester Originals home games start at £12 for adults and £5 for under 16s, with early bird ticket sales set to end on 20 June.

However, you’ll need to move quickly as more than half of the ticket allocation for the high-demand event has sold out.
