'When I took the job' - Ruben Amorim reveals what he 'expected' at Manchester United - it hasn't happened
Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim spoke to the press ahead of the Premier League fixture against Ipswich Town.
Ruben Amorim has thanked Manchester United fans for their continued support amid their terrible home form under the head coach.
United have lost five of their last six home league matches under Amorim and only recorded two league wins at Old Trafford since he took charge of the club back in November. Those victories came against Southampton and Everton, though they have recorded three home wins in cup competitions under him.
There will be an expectation on United to record a rare home win when they host relegation-threatened Ipswich Town on Wednesday night, with Amorim eager to ignore their poor home record ahead of the match. United are not expected to have any players available from injury for the clash and know it will be tough against the side he faced in his first match in charge of the club.
Ruben Amorim expected better home record
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday afternoon, Ruben Amorim addressed the recent poor home form and admitted he 'expected' to win every match at Old Trafford when he took the job.
"Since I arrived, when I took the job, I expect to win all the games at home," he said. "The supporters are amazing and you don’t feel it. Every time you go to one game at Old Trafford, you feel the support. I don’t feel the pressure and we have to think about the games. It is a new game, it can be a new story."
United will look to raise spirits with a home win in a week when it has been announced another 200 members of staff could be made redundant. The mood is low at Old Trafford and Amorim isn't shying away from the fact their tight financial situation is largely down to the failures of the men's first team.
He added: "That is clear, We have to we have to address all the problems in the club but one important piece of this moment is to understand how we get to this situation and it has a lot to do with the lack of success of the football team because we are the engine of any football club. I just want to help the club in my department which is to improve the team and improve the players have success. It is always hard, for everybody, they see the friends and the teammates losing their jobs but we have to focus on what I can do to help the club in the moment. We as a club have to understand what we did wrong to get to this situation so we need to think in solutions at this moment."
