Historic England

Salford, 30 May 1944. The USAAF collection has very few photographs of northern England. However, on 30 May 1944, a sortie recorded vertical views of places in and around Manchester. This view of Salford includes landmarks like the Manchester Ship Canal and Salford Docks. Bottom-right are Old Trafford football and cricket grounds and White City stadium.
