Man Utd had prioritised a deal to send the youngster out on loan this month.

Manchester United defender Harry Amass is expected to remain at the club until the end of the season after the club had prioritised a loan exit for him this month. United hoped to send the 17-year-old on his first loan exit during the winter window but have been unable to find a suitable agreement.

United are careful to match players with a loan move that would greatly benefit their development and do not want to send a player out just for the sake of it. With time running out on deadline day, the teenager is now expected to remain at the club and his situation will be revisited in the summer transfer window.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for left-back Amass after United completed a deal to sign Patrick Dorgu over the weekend and have already reached an agreement for fellow full-back Diego Leon to join the club in the summer.

United had prioritised loan exit this month

We revealed at the start of January that United had prioritised loan exits for both Amass and Dan Gore during the current transfer window. The young duo were both identified as players who would benefit greatly from a taste of senior football during the second-half of the season after their respective exploits at youth level.

Amass was a star of last summer's pre-season schedule under former manager Erik ten Hag but was not deemed physical enough to be given a chance in the Premier League. The teenage left-back has been named on the bench five times his season but has yet to make his competitive debut for the club.

United agreed a deal to send Gore to League One side Rotherham last week but they have been unable to engineer a move for Amass. It is understood United rejected a loan offer from Championship side Stoke City to sign midfielder Ruben Curley on loan before tonight’s deadline.
