Manchester United rebuild already taking shape with two summer signings 'certain' to happen

It might be the January transfer window, but Manchester United already know what they want to do in the summer. Ruben Amorim knew it would be difficult to rebuild his squad midway through a season and hopes to make his mark at the end of the campaign.
Amorim has already started to implement his new tactical approach and there is a hope that with more training sessions in the coming weeks, there will be a clearer idea of what he is trying to do. Another key part will be adding players better suited to those demands.

Geovany Quenda deal 'certain' to happen
Amorim is desperate to add a right wing-back to his side this summer and Geovany Quenda is expected to be that player. The 17-year-old played for him at Sporting and is expected to be available for £33.4 million at the end of the season. Quenda has scored two goals and provided six assists in 34 appearances for the Portuguese giants and is viewed as a player with enormous potential who could also do a job right away.
Manchester World understand there is a genuine interest to sign Quenda this summer, while Portuguese outlet A Bola already claim a transfer is 'certain' to happen. They say United have been interested in the teenager since before Amorim was appointed and are well-placed to sign him if they want to. A move could depend on how successful United are in raising transfer funds through player sales, with Antony and Tyrell Malacia both set to be sold in the summer.
United have already agreed one summer signing
United will also add another left wing-back to the squad this summer after they agreed a deal for Cerro Porteño defender Diego Leon. The teenager underwent a medical with the club earlier this month but is not allowed to move to Manchester until he turns 18 in April.

United have identified South America as an untapped market for potential bargain buys and will continue to monitor the continent for future youth recruits.
Although viewed as a first-team signing, the teenage full-back could be given time in the youth set up to settle in his new environment, just as Sekou Kone has since he joined last summer. He could even be sent out on loan to help bring him up to speed with European football.
