Manchester United confirm big summer exit as transfer ‘talks’ with Barcelona begin

Manchester United’s preparations for next season are already well underway.

The Red Devils are ready to put a rather disastrous campaign behind them having finished sixth in the Premier League.

United couldn’t return to the Champions League, and doing so will be the number one aim next season as Erik ten Hag takes over.

But what is clear is that ten Hag will need some help in the form of new signings, and with that in mind, we have rounded up all the latest transfer rumours.

De Jong latest

United have been heavily linked with a move for Frenkie de Jong over recent weeks, but a deal is not close.

That’s according to Sky Sports, who report that the Red Devils have held talks with the Barcelona star, but they say there are ‘significant obstacles’ to the deal.

De Jong spoke recently, saying he would prefer to stay at Barcelona long term.

Danjuma speaks

Villarreal star Arnaut Danjuma is another who has been linked with United, and in an interview with Ziggo Sport, the winger has confirmed interest, but from Liverpool.

“I was informed that Liverpool were following me closely,” he said.

“I have never had contacts with clubs or anything like that during the season – I always know about the situation after the season.

“I will never lie and I think it’s a bad quality if you are not ambitious. If a club came along that offered me a higher platform to play on sport-wise, I would always have to consider it.”

Pogba exit

We have known for some time that Paul Pogba was headed for a United exit this summer, but the news has now been confirmed.

The Frenchman is out of contract at the end of June, and in a statement, the club have confirmed that he will leave on a free transfer.

The statement read: “The club can announce that Paul Pogba will leave Manchester United at the end of June, upon the expiry of his contract.

"Everyone at the club would like to congratulate Paul on his successful career, and thank him for his contributions to Manchester United.

"We wish him all the best for the next steps on a remarkable journey."
