Luke Shaw, Donny van de Beek and Anthony Martial weren’t involved in Manchester United training on Wednesday, and are therefore expected to miss the Europa League clash with Real Sociedad.

The Spanish side travel to Old Trafford ahead of their first European group game of the season, one United are expected to rotate their side in.

But Shaw, Van de Beek and Martial look set to miss out after they were absent from training at Carrington.

ManchesterWorld were one of several outlets at the club’s training ground on Wednesday to witness the first 15 minutes of the session.

Martial’s lack of involvement was not a surprise after Erik ten Hag confirmed in his pre-match press conference that the attacker has not resumed full training yet.

But it was hoped Shaw and Van de Beek would take part after missing the weekend win over Arsenal with knocks.

It means United do have issues at left-back, attacking midfield and up front. Assuming Shaw and Van de Beek are injured, Tyrell Malacia remains the only real choice on the left of defence, while Bruno Fernandes may retain his place in the middle.

Marcus Rashford has played as a striker in the last four games, but Cristiano Ronaldo is an option to start centrally in place of the United No.10.

However, Aaron Wan-Bissaka was seen at Carrington on Wednesday after he missed the last two matchday squads with a niggle.

As for Sociedad, they announced a 24-man squad for the game, which includes ex-Manchester City man David Silva, as well as former Premier League players Mikel Merino and Alexander Sorloth.

Robin Le Normand was not named in the travelling party as he picked up a recent injury.
