Manchester United are negotiating with Fiorentina over the possibility of Sofyan Amrabat joining the club on transfer deadline day.

The Red Devils are expecting a busy final day of the summer market, with Altay Bayindir’s £4.3m arrival from Fenerbahce already confirmed. The goalkeeper becomes the club’s fourth signing of the window, along with Mason Mount, Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund.

But United could make it six incomings by 11pm on Friday, with discussions ongoing about bringing in Amrabat on loan. The midfielder is keen to join the club, and Erik ten Hag is a fan of the player, who he previously managed at Dutch side Utrecht.

A source described the deal to ManchesterWorld as ‘70/30’ in United’s favour, with club officials discussing details with Amrabat on Friday morning. United have been in the market for a new midfielder all summer, and would like to add more options following the departure of Fred. Scott McTominay is also expected to stay before the deadline, despite interest from elsewhere in the Premier League.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils are confident of completing a loan move for Tottenham Hotspur’s Sergio Reguilon. The Spaniard is expected to arrive on loan and help boost United’s defensive woes at left-back. Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia have suffered long-term injuries and Diogo Dalot had to deputise at left-back in Saturday’s win over Nottingham Forest.

United feel the additions of Reguilon and Amrabat would represent a good window, especially given the club’s financial restrictions. The Red Devils are particularly pleased with their efficient captures of Mount, Onana and Hojlund, all of whom arrived before the season commenced.

United also expect Harry Maguire to stay despite interest from West Ham United in the last few weeks. The decision to remain at Old Trafford was ultimately made by the player, but United are happy for him to be part of the first-team squad. Eric Bailly, Donny van de Beek and Mason Greenwood could still leave on deadline day, with interest from multiple clubs, although nothing has been agreed yet.

United have picked up six points from their opening three Premier League matches in 2023/24 and will hope to improve that record on Sunday at Arsenal.
