In the meantime, they are focused on the Europa League, taking on Sherrif on Thursday night as they look to bounce back from last week’s home defeat to Real Sociedad.
As Erik ten Hag’s men look to produce a response, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Old Trafford.
Caicedo option
Brighton star Moises Caicedo could be a more likely signing for United than Frenkie de Jong in January.

Hide AdTen Hag would clearly love to have de Jong, but the midfielder is not interested in a move away from Old Trafford.
But that may not stop United strengthening their midfield, and journalist Dean Jones believes Caicedo could be an option.
“Frenkie De Jong, obviously, was the player we thought would be coming in initially, but it seems firmly out of sight at the moment,” Jones told GiveMeSport.
“He looks so happy at Barcelona; things are going well for him there. So, at this point, maybe you can say Caicedo’s at least more likely than Frenkie De Jong.”

Watford goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann has confirmed United expressed an interest in signing him during the summer window.
Following the departure of Dean Henderson to Nottingham Forest, United found themselves in need of a new number two, while also having Tom Heaton on hand.
But finding a goalkeeper who was willing to sit behind David de Gea wasn’t all that easy. In the end, Martin Dubravka, who had already become number two at Newcastle, was snapped up on loan.
But United first tried to sign Bachmann from Watford, only to dicover the player was not up for the move.

“I would have come to training every day and tried to convince the coach to let me play. That’s very clear. Still, I’m glad it turned out the way it did for me. I just want to play football.”
Bachmann is now playing regularly at Watford.
