Another draw followed for Sheriff, who came back from a goal down against Petrocub to finish 1-1, but they managed a 2-0 win over Dacia Buiucani five days later.

European journey so far

The Wasps’ European journey began before their league campaign with a Champions League first qualifying round two-legged fixture against Bosnian side Zrinjski Mostar.

They progressed to the next stage of the qualifying round after beating Zrinjski 1-0 over both legs, then won by the same aggregate score over Maribor in the second qualifying round.

However, their chance of Champions League football came to an end after losing 4-2 over two legs in the third qualifying round to Viktoria Plzen, dropping them to the Europa League play-offs.
