There have been encouraging signs from United of late, but City look to be favourites to defend their Premier League title again.

We should learn a lot about United this weekend, as we did when they beat Arsenal recently, but in the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Old Trafford.

De Jong latest

Frenkie de Jong is said to remain on United’s wishlist ahead of the summer.

That’s according to ESPN, who believe the Red Devils could return with fresh interest after pushing for a move all summer.

De Jong spoke during United’s last pursuit, making it clear he wanted to stay at Barcelona, and he has spoken since, echoing the same thoughts.

It seems United have little chance to getting a deal done any time soon, but the report claims they are still interested.

It is going to take some sort of momentous shift for this situation to change.

Neves rejection

United are also said to have pursued a deal for Wolves star Ruben Neves, but it seems they were rejected by the player in this situation, too.

According to Sport, United and Liverpool made a move for the defensive midfielder, but the report says Neves showed little interest to negotiate with either club.

They say that’s because Neves has his mind set on a move to Barcelona in 2023, when he could become slightly cheaper ahead of his contract expire in 2024.

United wound signing Casemiro, and they will feel they got a better player anyway, even if it cost them significantly more, paying Real Madrid £60million.
