Manchester United have confirmed Victor Lindelof will be out for a month after undergoing groin surgery.

The defender has missed the last three matches due to the injury with Erik ten Hag revealing on Friday that Lindelof will be out ‘for a couple of weeks’. But United put out an official statement afterwards confirming the extent of the problem.

“Manchester United centre-half Victor Lindelof is expected to be out for just over a month, following successful surgery on a minor groin issue,” the club announced via its website.

Lindelof will therefore miss the trip to West Ham United on Saturday and with Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez also injured, the Red Devils are expected to select Raphael Varane and Jonny Evans at the heart of defence.

Tyrell Malacia, Casemiro and Mason Mount will miss out through injury as well, while Diogo Dalotis unavailable due to a one-match suspension. But there was better news this week with Christian Eriksen returning to training and Ten Hag confirmed ahead of the game that the Dane has travelled with the squad to London.

“We have some returns that are very useful," the ex-Ajax boss told United’s website on Friday. “The one we are pleased to have is the return of Christian Eriksen in the squad.

“We also have doubts; we had some illness in the week, so we will have to see how they recover tomorrow. But one thing is sure, we will put a good line-up on the pitch and we have to win the game.”
