Man Utd "fans can be excited" as Red Devils "verbally agree personal terms" with €60m-valued target
Manchester United are planning a summer overhaul amid a disappointing Premier League campaign
Manchester United’s Premier League campaign has been one to forget so far, with the Red Devils languishing in the bottom half of the top flight. A trip to a resurgent Everton side awaits on Saturday afternoon, six days on from a 1-0 loss against Tottenham Hotspur in North London.

While United’s hopes of achieving anything of substance in the league this campaign have all-but vanished, Ruben Amorim’s side are still in the FA Cup and the Europa League with hopes of silverware still possible. Both competitions also provide an alternative route into European competitions next season.
Amorim will hope to add more players to his squad that fit his playing style ahead of next season. Some of those could come from former club Sporting CP. Amorim said he would not target any of his former players in January but did not make the same promise ahead of the summer window. He said back in November: “I will not sign any Sporting player at Man United in January… then, what happens in the summer I don't know. Sporting players are good players. We will see”.
United ‘agree personal terms’ with Sporting CP youngster
Ahead of the summer transfer window, United have reportedly agreed personal terms with versatile Sporting youngster Geovany Quenda. Speaking on talkSPORT’s YouTube channel, journalist Ben Jacobs said: “The player has agreed - verbally - personal terms and is waiting to see whether the clubs pre-agree [a deal] or wait until the summer.”
United are said to be eager to secure an early agreement with Sporting because of the anticipated interest in Quenda once the summer transfer window opens. The sticking point between the clubs could be a transfer fee. Jacobs adds that Sporting value the player at €60m but United are wanting a deal for €40m. A reported release clause of €100m is in the player’s contract.
The Red Devils have already added one wing-back to their squad after completing a deal to sign Patrick Dorgu from Serie A side Lecce. The Danish player will be used on the left by Amorim while Quenda would be free to battle for a spot on the right-hand side if a deal could be struck between the clubs.
Quenda career so far
Quenda was named in the Sporting squad by Amorim during the 2023-24 campaign but was an unused substitute each time. He made his competitive senior debut for Sporting in August 2024. He is a natural right winger but was used at right wing-back by Amorim and has made 38 appearances this season, scoring twice and providing seven assists.
Giving his verdict on the player, Amorim said following a pre-season friendly in July: “He's very talented, very mature and understands the game like an adult. He obviously has a lot to improve on, but I think he had an excellent game and we have a player there."
Giving his verdict on the type of player United could be getting, Jacobs added when speaking to talkSPORT: “Fans can be very excited, he's quick, he's intelligent, he's got good movement off the ball and he can play deeper as a right wing back, right winger. There's some goals output that will improve with age, he's very creative and intuitive and Ruben Amorim will value that kind of player.”
