Manchester United confirm how much it cost to sack Erik ten Hag and Dan Ashworth
Man Utd have made two major decisions so far this season and this is how much they cost the club.
Manchester United have finally confirmed how much it cost them to sack both former manager Erik ten Hag and former sporting director Dan Ashworth earlier in the season.

Ten Hag was dismissed in October just months after he had signed a contract extension with the club following their FA Cup final victory over Man City. The Dutchman left his role having guided United to just three wins from their opening nine matches in the Premier League and the club without a win in the Europa League.
Ashworth left his role in December just five months after he had been appointed sporting director, taking much of the blame for their decision to keep Ten Hag in the summer before they eventually sacked him a couple of months into the new campaign. There has been plenty of speculation about how much the decision cost United and now those figures have been confirmed in the latest financial results.
How much it cost United to sack Ten Hag and Ashworth
United confirmed in their latest financial results that 'exceptional items for the quarter' came at a cost of £14.5 million to the club. The statement claimed the costs were associated to the departure of former men's first team manager Erik ten Hag and various members of football staff.
We know from United's previous financial results it cost them £10.4 million to dismiss Ten Hag and his backroom staff, which means the additional £4.1 million was spent on remunerating Ashworth. It is understood United had previously paid a further £3 million to bring Ashworth to the club from Newcastle United, meaning his five-month spell at the club cost them £7.1 million in total fees, as well as his wage. It is worth noting, a conflicting report claims United had actually paid £5 million to appoint Ashworth, which would raise the total figure to the £9.1 million mark.
