The 2023/24 season has come to close. We could be entering another period of transition at Manchester United - it promises to be yet another eventful summer at Old Trafford. Will Fish issues apology to Hibs fans after he feels season ‘wasn’t good enough’

Manchester United loanee Will Fish, who spent the season in Scotland with Hibs, has issued an apology on social media to the Hibees massive after he deemed the previous campaign to have been ‘not good enough’ by Easter Road standards.

Fish was a key player for Hibs last season, making 34 Scottish Premiership appearances and scoring a single goal along the way - he also managed to contribute a solitary assist.

With United having such a glaring lack of quality depth in their back line, Fish could join their senior team’s defensive ranks ahead of the 2024/25 campaign - he is only 21 years of age, giving him plenty of time to develop. Unless United plan to make significant improvements to their quality of depth at centre-back, it would not be surprising to see Fish be handed a respectable share of game time next season.

Writing on his official X (formerly Twitter) page, Fish penned: "I can only apologise this season wasn’t good enough for a club like this. I promise I’ve absolutely loved playing for Hibs & had some incredible memories along the way. Good luck for the future .. better times are coming! THANK YOU again."

Manchester United in pursuit of Bradley Locko

It is no secret at this point - United need a new left-back before the dawn of the 2024/25 season. Luke Shaw, for all his qualities, has struggled manfully with injuries this season, as has backup option Tyrell Malacia.

It seems that the United hierarchy are fully aware of the squad’s plight at left-back. To solve this problem, the Red Devils could bring on board 22-year-old Brest full-back Bradley Locko [via Jeunes Footeux], who has made 33 Ligue 1 appearances this season and has racked up three assists.

Not only can he play at left-back, Locko is also comfortable when deployed as a left wing-back and as a left midfielder. Despite this, he is at his best when he is utilised as an attacking full-back - he is excellent at bombarding down the left flank and whipping in crosses from the byline.

United are not the only Premier League club who are thought to have Locko in their sights - he is also being targeted by Fulham and Nottingham Forest, both of whom are no slouches from a financial perspective.
