It has been an intriguing transfer deadline day for Manchester City and Manchester United as the clock ticks towards tonight’s 11pm deadline. Treble winners City have completed the big money addition of Wolverhampton Wanderers and Portugal midfielder Matheus Nunes and authorised the permanent departure of Cole Palmer to Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Young duo Taylor Harwood-Bellis and James McAtee have also completed loan moves away from the Etihad Stadium after joining Southampton and Sheffield United respectively.

United have completed three incoming moves as Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir joined on a permanent deal and Tottenham Hotspur left-back Sergio Reguilon made a season-long loan switch to Old Trafford. Former Red Devils defender Jonny Evans has also put pen-to-paper on a deal with his old club after signing a short-term contract earlier in the summer.

There could still be further moves on both sides of the Manchester divide as the deadline draws ever closer as United look to complete a deal for Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat and City could allow more young players to depart on loan.

While the transfer window is set to slam shut at 11pm this evening, City and United could ensure they have an extra two hours in which to finalise the details of any further incomings or outgoings

As per Premier League rules, both Manchester clubs and their league rivals can be given until 1am to complete the deal - providing the club has submitted a deal sheet. The sheet must provide information on the potential transfer and confirm an agreement has been reached before the additional time can be granted.

The details required on this sheet are fairly basic, including the clubs, player involved and fee being paid - if there is one. Deal sheets can’t be requested until 9pm on transfer deadline day, while they must be submitted and fully completed, by 11pm.
