David de Gea is currently assessing his options as he pursues his next career move. The iconic goalkeeper parted ways with Manchester United earlier this month after the two parties failed to reach agreements on a new contract. After 12 years at Old Trafford, it’s time for a new chapter for the Spaniard, and there has naturally already been a high level of interest in him.

According to Football Insider, de Gea is the latest high profile player linked to a move to Saudi Arabia. The 32-year-old is currently in talks over moving to the Pro League and his agent Jorge Mendez is said to be working on getting a ‘huge money’ deal over the line for his client ahead of the new season.

Several European clubs are also keen on de Gea but the unnamed Saudi outfits are ‘pushing with an offer of much higher wages’ and that seems to be the most likely destination for him right now.

Should the Saudi Pro League acquire de Gea, he will join the likes of Real Madrid icons Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, as well as a handful of Premier League stars who have either already made the move, or are headed in that direction.

Liverpool duo Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are both heavily linked to Al-Ettifaqand Al-Ittihad respectively. The likes of Riyad Mahrez, Allan Saint-Maximin, and de Gea’s former teammate Paul Pogba are just a few names also on the radar of Saudi clubs.

De Gea made a total of 545 appearances during his time with United and picked up just seven yellow cards in that time. He won the Premier League, Europa League and the FA Cup with the Reds, two Premier League Golden Glove awards, and was named the club’s Players’ Player of the Year on four occasions.
