Bayern Munich have been told to stay away from possible Manchester United target Harry Kane ahead of the summer window.

It’s no secret that United will be in the market for a striker this summer, needing a proven frontman to be Cristiano Ronaldo’s permanent successor. For now, Wout Weghorst is filling the void, currently at the club on loan, but the Red Devils are going to need to find a full-time solution this summer, and they are going to have to spend big to ensure they get their man.

Whether it’s Victor Osimhen, Harry Kane or anybody else of that calibre, United will have to spend big bucks, and with Kane, in particular, there is the question of age.

While the Tottenham striker is one of the most feared frontmen in world football, he is now 30 years of age, and while that’s still a prime age, it’s not all that long away from the age where players begin to lose a step, and when £100million is at stake, it’s worthy concern for any buying club.

That’s something Bayern Munich legend Luthar Matheus has addressed, telling his former club to stay away from Kane due to his age and cost amid links ahead of this summer.

He wrote for Sky Deutschland: “I’m excited to see if a new striker comes along. Everyone is talking about Victor Osimhen for his sensational performance at Napoli. You never know if he can do that in Munich, but I think he would be a good fit.

"Randal Kolo Muani may need a little more room and space than a Bayern striker usually has, but he's also good in the box and could work in Munich. Harry Kane would be too old and too expensive for me. "The price-performance ratio could speak for Niclas Füllkrug. He would probably be available for €20-25 million [£17.6m-£22m] and score 25 goals in Munich. He's already scored 20 times at Werder."

United will have to ask themselves the same questions about Kane as they look to land a frontman this summer.
