Man Utd boss blasts Wembley ticket allocation as ‘crazy’

Manchester United boss Marc Skinner was critical of the allocation both United and Chelsea have been given for the Women’s FA Cup Final next month.

It was revealed that, despite 65,000 tickets being issued for the clash in May, only 8,000 tickets each have been handed to fans of the clubs playing in the final.

Manchester United reached their very first FA Cup final on Sunday after a last minute strike from Rachel Williams secured a 3-2 win over a tricky Brighton side to set up a clash with Chelsea at the home of English football and Skinner admitted he shared the fans’ frustration at the club’s Wembley allocation.

“To give clubs like Manchester United and Chelsea just 8,000 tickets to sell it’s just...crazy, in my opinion” said the United head coach,

“I don’t know how many they give to fans of the men’s team. I don’t know how it works in all honesty, I haven’t really looked into it but to give two massive clubs 8,000 tickets is, as I say, crazy - that is as simple as I can put it.

“In all honesty, I absolutely share the sentiment (frustration at the lack of tickets). I can’t believe it” added Skinner.

Set to be played on Sunday 14 May, the clash will be the first time the Red Devil’s Women’s side have played at Wembley and the 40-year-old boss admitted there is excitement for the clash already - though the club’s Women’s Super League clash with Arsenal tomorrow night takes the priority.

“It is huge. We know we are playing against Chelsea who are currently one of the best teams, so we have a lot of work to do. The reality is we have got there on our own merit and we believe in ourselves. I know we will do a lot of talking closer to the game but it is something we are looking forward to.

“We’re trying hard everyday for a reason. I’m really pleased but there’s too much to do before hard before we even start thinking about it. We have a game tomorrow an I am going to pay that the respect it deserves.”

Manchester United face Arsenal in a top of the table clash at Leigh Sports Village tomorrow night, kick off is scheduled for 7:15pm.
