Man City fans react to Kevin De Bruyne’s stand-out performance against Leeds

There were many stand-out performances in Manchester City’s 7-0 demolition of Leeds United last night, but one player in particular has been praised highly by fans.
It has been a difficult start to the season for Kevin De Bruyne. Before last night’s match at the Etihad Stadium, the Belgian had scored just twice in 10 league appearances and failed to register an assist. In the previous two seasons De Bruyne had a combined total of 32 league assists.

City fans thoroughly enjoyed the former Chelsea man’s performance, and were quick to praise the midfielder for what was arguably his best showing of the season.
One fan on social media said: “KDB got injured and was criticised for weeks whilst being unfit, he gets back, scores a banger, gets a brace and gets MOTM. He’s inevitable yet people still fall for it every time.”
Another tweeted: “This KDB performance is dedicated to all those saying we are playing better without him.”

One City fan hopes this was the start of a new beginning for De Bruyne , saying: “The best midfielder in the world is coming back. Be afraid.”
The opinion that City are better without the No.17 was quickly dismissed by one supporter, as they added: “City play better without Kevin de Bruyne? Do people even watch football?”
In his post-match press conference, Pep Guardiola heaped praise on De Bruyne, describing him as a player that his Manchester City side “need”.
He said: "We have been together for six seasons... What he has done for me is everything, he has been so important and we need him."
