Bovril Brigade to the rescue as Manchester City fans fume at lack of hot steamy drink at the Etihad

Manchester City fans took to social media to complain when Bovril was taken off the matchday menu - but the drink’s manufacturer came to the rescue.

As temperatures continue to plummet across the country, cold days out at the football are always helped by a scalding cup of Bovril to warm your cockles.

And so Manchester City fans took to social media in their droves to share their disappointment that the meaty drink had been taken off sale at the Etihad.

Luckily Bovril’s manufacturers spotted their pleas for a warming cup of the brown stuff and set off with a jumbo canteen of it to give away for free ahead of the match.

Home fans couldn’t hide their sheer glee at the return of the fan-favourite drink, and some were spotted chanting ‘Bring Bovril Back, Bring Bovril Back’ as they entered turnstiles ahead of the game.

City supporters will be hoping that they will be warming up with a cup of Bovril by the time the team hosts Leicester City in the Premier League on Boxing Day.
