The Manchester City manager also gave an update on Phil Foden, Ruben Dias and Erling Haaland.

Pep Guardiola has said Ederson could be back to face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday.

The Manchester City goalkeeper picked up a shoulder injury in last week’s 2-0 win over Nottingham Forest, which Guardiola claimed at the time ‘doesn’t look good’, while Ederson was seen leaving the City Ground wearing a sling.

As a result, it was presumed that the 30-year-old would miss the clash against Wolves, but Guardiola revealed ahead of the game that Ederson has been back in training this week and could be available on Saturday.

“It [initially] looked worse. Yesterday he trained and he feels good,” said the City manager.

Erling Haaland could also return to the starting line-up against Gary O’Neil’s side, Guardiola confirmed. The Norwegian no.9 came off the bench to score in Nottingham, having missed the previous two matches with a knock, and is fit to be named in the XI for the first time since the Champions League exit at the hands of Real Madrid on 17 April.

City look set to have a fully fit squad for the clash against Wolves, with Guardiola revealing Ruben Dias and Phil Foden have recovered from the illnesses that saw them miss out on the trip to Forest.

The latter won the Football Writers’ Association Player of the Year award on Friday, a rich reward for a campaign that has seen the England international score 22 goals in all competitions. However, Guardiola insisted there is more to come from the 23-year-old.

“If the writers decide this award, congrats for the writers and him,” said the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager. “He has played really good this season, many players have. What can I say? Congratulations.

“His impact in the final third is really good, his work ethic. Due to the amount of minutes he is playing, he is more mature and he understands the game, but he needs to continue. He is still young. Always we can improve, until you retire, until you die, you can improve.”
