The Manchester City goalkeeper picked up an injury in Sunday’s 2-0 win.

Pep Guardiola said Ederson’s shoulder injury ‘doesn’t look’ good after Manchester City’s 2-0 Premier League win over Nottingham Forest.

The goalkeeper was replaced at half-time in Sunday’s game after he collided with Wily Boly midway through the first period. Ederson received on-field treatment and managed to carry on until he was replaced by Stefan Ortega.

But Guardiola confirmed after the game that Ederson’s shoulder injury could be serious. “It doesn't look good. We see tomorrow with the doctor,” he said. Meanwhile, the Brazilian was seen leaving the City Ground wearing a sling on Sunday.

It’s the third time this season Ederson has been replaced in a Premier League match, and he was also taken off against Liverpool and Newcastle United.

The injury puts the 30-year-old’s participation in the final games of the Premier League season into doubt. City face Wolverhampton Wanderers next weekend, before games against Fulham, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United in the final week of the league season. The Blues also have an FA Cup final against Manchester United on the horizion, with the Wembley derby taking place on 25 May.

Should he be called into action, Ortega has proved to be a reliable back-up. The German has played 17 times this season in all competitions and has kept seven clean sheets. He made a good save to deny Callum Hudson in the second half at the City Ground on Sunday.

Meanwhile, asked about the champions’ performance at Forest, Guardiola said: “Really hard. Last season we draw and we played much better than today.

“Knowing the circumstances today, we knew the game today, we were so lucky. The pitch was so high. Better pitch conditions they would score. The last 30 mins, we suffer.”
