Bet365 is currently offering odds of 11/2 while Ladbrokes is offering slightly better odds of 6/1 for a white Christmas in Manchester.

Weather experts say they can predict with relative accuracy if snow is likely six days before Christmas Day.

It’s undeniable that the image of a snow covered Manchester on Christmas Day is something many will pine for but realistically snow is much more likely to fall in January, February and March than it is in December.

In fact, the Met Office says, on average, snow and sleet falls for 3.9 days in December however that increases to 5.3 days in January, 5.6 days in February and 4.2 days in March.

The changing of the climate through the heating up of the planet has also reduced the likelihood of white Christmases in Manchester and the rest of the United Kingdom.

The most recent wide spread white Christmas was in 2010 and the four before that were in 1981, 1995, 2009 and 2010.

In past years, some cities might have seen snow while others did not however in 2018 and 2019 no snow was recorded at any of the UK’s weather stations.
