"I was just dreading this month. When I met my friend for coffee I kept clearing my throat and coughing, like a little tic,” she told OK magazine.

"I think it’s just the anxiety of this month and the struggle. It’s like living in a s**t show."

Kelsey’s husband, Tom, died from a brain tumour on 20 March, 2022, at St Christopher's Hospice in London, aged just 33.

He battled the aggressive brain tumour for 18 months after going through chemotherapy and radiotherapy. Despite fighting to the very end, Tom was unable to beat the tumour, leaving behind his wife and two children.

"This is probably the hardest time since he died," Kelsey said. "Going from February into March was such a hard transition because I knew what was coming this month. It’s been a year since I lost him, but it feels like yesterday.”

She explained how this stage of grieving had been the hardest yet and how she plans to remember her late husband on the one year anniversary of his death. She plans to walk to his secret bench with their children, lay some flowers and “just think about him.”

The following day, she plans to celebrate his life more publicly after inviting friends and family to join her for drinks in his memory.

"I’m just going to try and celebrate it because I don’t want it to be really sad, even though I’m obviously going to be feeling all the emotions over again,” she said.
