Kelsey Parker discusses grief with Ashley Cain in ‘raw and honest’ new MTV series after death of husband Tom

Kelsey Parker has announced that she will feature in Ashley Cain’s upcoming MTV digital series about grief, following the loss of her husband Tom Parker.

The Wanted star sadly died on 30 March last year, aged 33, after a year-and-a-half long battle with stage four glioblastoma brain cancer.

He left behind two young children; two-year-old Bodhi and three-year-old Aurelia, as well as his wife, 32, whom he married in 2018, after meeting ten years earlier.

MTV Faces is a new digital series where celebrities, who have lost someone in the public eye, will open up about death and suicide.

The series aims to be a safe space for raw and honest conversations about grief, with Kelsey’s story being featured in the first episode on 30 March.

Kelsey described the topic of grief as something we all need “to be more open and honest about” in a post on Instagram.

The mum-of-two wrote: “MTV FACES has been a powerful experience. Ashley Cain is creating  A topic you all know I think we need to be more open and honest about.

“Through these vulnerable conversations, we hope to help anyone who is affected by grief or supporting loved ones through it. #MTVFACES is launching on @mtvuk March 30.”

The series founder Ashley and his ex-partner Safiyya Vorajee lost their eight-month-old daughter Azaylia on 24 April 2021, after she was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia.

In the newly released trailer for MTV Faces, Ashley calls himself the “father of an angel” and recalls the moment his daughter stopped breathing.

In the same trailer, Kelsey describes Tom’s death as “magical” and explains that she will never be the same person that she was two years ago.

Loose Women’s Brenda Edwards will open up about the tragic death of her son Jamal Edwards in the second episode, on 6 April. The DJ and music entrepreneur died after taking recreational drugs on 20 February 2022.

In the third episode on 13 April, radio host Roman Kemp will speak about the impact the death of his best friend, Joe Lyons, has had on him. The Capital FM producer died by suicide in August 2020.

Rizzle Kicks’ Jordan Stephens, in the final episode on 20 April, will talk about how repressed feelings about the death of his beloved Gran led to him having a breakdown.

He will also raise awareness of mental health through the IAMWHOLE campaign which encourages young people to ‘speak out, seek help, get support’.
