Friday Barrel of Laughs

Frog & Bucket, Friday 17 June

Join your compere for a night of belly laughs and see-them-first comedians - with many of the Frog alumni ending up on popular TV panel shows having cut their teeth on the circuit. On the bill this Friday is Mick Ferry, Adam Staunton and Ignacio Lopez.

Ted X Talk

University of Salford, Saturday 18 June

Fans of the mega-popular video and podcast chats can grab a chance to see one in action. It’s the second time Salford Uni has hosted a TedX event and this one’s theme is rejuvenation. Expect to inspired and surprised by the 10 guest speakers.

Manchester Day

City centre, Sunday 19 June

The colourful free annual parade celebrating everything great about Manchester returns after an absence.

Community groups have been busy decorating costumes and floats for the family friendly procession which kicks off at 1pm from the Beetham Tower. Full details here.

Emirates Old Trafford, Wednesday 22 June

Manchester’s stonking month of live music continues into next week when the home of Lancashire cricket will become the home of the Californian rock legends RHCP for the night. The Chilis kicked off the tour in Spain, with the set list a mix of their best hits from over the years, including five selections from their new LP Unlimited Love, and are rocking Manchester for one night only. There are a number of tickets left at Ticketmaster.

Sheba Festival

Manchester, Salford and Oldham, 18-25 June

Several locations will play host to Sheba Festival in the fourth edition of the arts event which, this year, carries the themes migration and climate change.

It’s organised by Sheba Arts, a female-led organisation founded to counter issues of misrepresentation of people from migrant backgrounds and to promote artists from refugee communities. Expect to see plenty of music, dancing, food and workshops across the dates.

Oti Mabuse: I Am Here

The Lowry, Salford, 22-23 June

Strictly Come Dancing and The Greatest Dancer reigning champion Oti Mabuse is creating a show like no other. Prepare for a night of electrifying choreography as Oti is joined by some of the world’s greatest dancers and the West End’s finest singers and musicians.
