The people behind the popular Schofield’s Bar in Manchester are set to open their first restaurant in the city - at the former Bull and Bear site.

The Schofield brothers already have a bar, Sterling, in the Stock Exchange hotel, co-owned by former Manchester United star turned businessman Gary Neville, alongside their eponymous bar and Atomeca. And now the duo have announced they will launch their new British brasserie venture in the hotel in February.

Chef Tom Kerridge joined Neville on social media last week to announce he was leaving the Bull and Bear to focus on his London restaurants, meaning the Manchester restaurant will close at the end of this year. The Schofields, whose original bar was this year named one of the best in the world, are bringing in Joshua Reed-Cooper as their head chef for the new eatery. He has worked for Simon Rogan at The French, Sam Buckley at Where The Light Gets In, and Manchester’s only Michelin-starred restaurant MANA when he helped the team achieve their award.

Those behind the new venture say to expect ‘traditional well-loved British dishes executed with technique using local, high-quality produce.’

Joe Schofield said: “We aim to create one of the best restaurants in the North of England, righthere at Stock Exchange Hotel which is a natural next step in our hospitality career. Using the corepillars of our brands, we will transform the former Trading Floor into a space destined for food anddrink lovers, whilst providing an expectation-exceeding experience for the residents of the hotel.”

Gary Neville added: “Our aim at Stock Exchange Hotel is to create a destination venue in the heart of Manchester city-centre. Since meeting the group two years ago ourvision, values, and brands have aligned, and we are delighted they have chosen Stock Exchange Hotelto open their first restaurant concept.

“The restaurant will add another dimension to the diverse offering at the hotel and we are lookingforward to working with Joe, Daniel, James, Joshua and the team on this new venture.”
