'Precaution' - Why Manchester United star misses first match of the season vs Rangers
Man Utd have named their starting XI to face Rangers in the Europa League.
Noussair Mazraoui has been left out of the Manchester United starting line up to face Rangers in the Europa League tonight ‘as a precaution’ after he picked up a knock in their last match.
The Moroccan defender had featured in all 32 matches for the club so far this season, with this set to be the first match of the campaign he has not been involved in. Ruben Amorim has made five changes to his Manchester United side, with changes in every area of the pitch as they look to bounce back from their dismal weekend defeat to Brighton.
Altay Bayindir has been handed his first European start for the club, while Lisandro Martinez returns in central defence instead of Harry Maguire. Amorim has named a new midfield duo with Christian Erisken alongside Toby Collyer and Alejandro Garnacho coming into the attack instead of Amad Diallo, who replaces Mazraoui at wing-back.
Speaking ahead of the match, Amorim said: “It is always good to be back on the field, we like to have more practice, but this is my job. My job is to try to help my players win games and I am really happy to have that opportunity. We need to win to have time to train, to escape the play-offs and to have that feeling of winning, especially at home.”
United XI vs Rangers: Bayindir, Yoro, De Ligt, Martinez; Amad, Collyer, Eriksen, Dalot, Garnacho, Fernandes (c), Zirkzee. Subs: Onana, Heaton, Maguire, Mazraoui, Malacia, Casemiro, Mainoo, Ugarte, Antony, Hojlund
