Why Manchester United star has been dropped from line up amid transfer interest
Man Utd starting line up confirmed to face FCSB in the Europa League on Thursday night.
Toby Collyer and Tyrell Malacia both start for Manchester United in their Europa League match against FCSB on Thursday night.
United will book a place in the last-16 of the competition with victory tonight and Ruben Amorim has made five changes from the side that defeated Fulham in the Premier League at the weekend.
Altay Bayindir replaces Andre Onana in goal, while Noussair Mazraoui comes into the back three for Harry Maguire. Tyrell Malacia has been selected at left wing-back, with Toby Collyer and Christian Eriksen introduced in midfield. It means Amad Diallo and Alejandro Garnacho both drop to the bench and Rasmus Hojlund keep his place in attack.
What Ruben Amorim said about his line up
Speaking ahead of the match, Amorim was asked about his starting line up and why Alejandro Garnacho has not been selected from the start: “It is always a challenge,” he told TNT Sports. “But when you are in Manchester United you have to have the players al prepared to cope with the demands of the game. Some players like Garnacho was sick during the week, Amad was on the limits. He is playing every minute. We have to try to keep the players fit, the other ones are prepared to win the game. It is not just illness, because Garnacho is here ready to play but we need to be careful with everything. We want more possession with the team, we have to be brave in the final third. We are prepared to win the game.”
Alejandro Garancho could leave before deadline day
There is still a chance Garnacho could be sold before transfer deadline day as United look to raise funds and address their tight financial situation. United would rather sell fellow academy graduate Marcus Rashford this window, but accept it is unlikely a team will be able to match his hefty wages demands as well as pay a transfer fee for his services.
Chelsea are still interested in a move for the Argentine before Monday’s deadline and United would find it hard to turn down a offer in the region of £60m due to the fact it would represent pure profit from a financial perspective.
