Ruud van Nistelrooy thanks Manchester United fans for ‘beautiful moment’ & reveals Ruben Amorim expectation
Ruud van Nistelrooy has said he expects to speak with Ruben Amorim in the coming days regarding his future at Manchester United.
Sunday’s 3-0 win over Leicester City was the final game of the Dutchman’s four-match spell in charge of the team, with Van Nistelrooy bridging the gap between the Erik ten Hag and Amorim eras. The latter will start his new position tomorrow (Monday) although has yet to be issued with a visa before starting the new position.

The former striker has expressed his desire to be part of Amorim’s team, even if the Portuguese head coach is yet to get in touch and has confirmed his plans to bring his coaching team with him to Manchester.
Van Nistelrooy’s name rang around Old Trafford at full-time on Sunday and the 48-year-old made a beeline for the Stretford End at full-time to applaud the United fans and appeared to wave goodbye to the supporters.
“I can only describe that moment, how I felt and as a closure of this block of four games, it felt like a closure for that period and the future is open,” Van Nistelrooy said after the match.
“That is the way I felt it. It was a beautiful moment to be able to share that with the supporters and, yeah, it was special.”

“It was a beautiful moment and it was gratitude from my side to them, and the reception I was able to receive was unbelievable so I can only thank them.”
Amorim will travel to Manchester on Monday after taking charge of his final Sporting game against Braga. One of his first assignments will be to decide on the future of Van Nistelrooy.
“As I said, I want to continue doing that [working at United] in the future,” explained Van Nistelrooy. “Now also the communication was okay [that] ‘after the block of four games, there will be communication towards you and your colleagues that are in an uncertain situation’. So, I expect to hear today or tomorrow from them.”
