Ruben Amorim believes Manchester United youngsters Tyler Fredricson and Harry Amass both ‘deserved better’ from their 1-0 defeat to Wolves on Sunday afternoon. United made five changes to their side from the Europa League win over Lyon in midweek, with the two academy players handed their first senior home starts.
Amass shone in only his fourth appearance for the United first team, while it was the first time Fredricson had ever played for the senior side. The two youngsters were the standout performers for United against Wolves and could do little about the stunning Pablo Sarabia free-kick that won the game for the away side.

Mason Mount blazed an effort over the bar, and Rasmus Hojlund cut a frustrated figure in the forward line in what was a performance that summarised their struggles this season.
Ruben Amorim praises young duo
Tyler Fredricson and Harry Amass both shone for Manchester United in their 1-0 defeat to Wolves on Sunday afternoon and Ruben Amorim was impressed with what he saw from the pair. The academy graduates could both get further opportunities in the final weeks of the season, though the United head coach was disappointed the duo did not get to celebrate a victory after their impressive individual displays.
Asked if they could expect more starts, he told reporters: “That I don’t know as the season is not over. What I felt today that they deserved a better memory from their first games. Tyler played really well, also Amass played really well, and they deserved better because we were the better team, we played well, created chances, but in the end one opportunity for the opponent and they score. The memories are not the best for these kids but they played well.
“If you look at the game we were the better team but in the end it doesn’t matter. If we don’t score goals nothing matters because in the end it is the result that counts, especially in these kinds of moments. We create a lot of chances and we controlled the game. We blocked some good players from the opponent but then one set piece changes the game and that’s it, it’s really frustrating to end the game like this.”
