Manchester United player ratings: 7/10 academy duo shine but 3/10 did something 'inexcusable' in Wolves defeat
Tyler Fredricson shone as Manchester United were defeated 1-0 by Wolves in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon. Ruben Amorim made five changes to his starting line up as defender Fredricson was handed his senior debut and club captain Bruno Fernandes was rested from the start.
United were the better side during a tame first half that saw Christian Eriksen pose a threat from set pieces and several good crosses from the wing-backs evade everyone in the box, but there was no way through before the break.

Hide AdRasmus Hojlund wasted a couple of good chances to give United the lead after the restart before Wolves took the lead through a superb Pablo Sarabia free-kick. Mason Mount wasted a good opportunity to get his side level when he let back and launched an effort over the bar. Here is how we rated the United players during the Old Trafford defeat:
Manchester United player ratings vs Wolves
Andre Onana
He hardly had anything to do in what was an extremely underwhelming match. Nothing he could have done about the stunning free-kick that beat him. 6
Noussair Mazraoui
Another solid showing. He was decent on the ball and relished the freedom to join attacks. A few sloppy passes conceded possession. 5
Victor Lindelof
An uneventful return to the side. He was solid whenever called upon and didn’t have any moments of concern. 6
Tyler Fredricson

Hide AdHe looked comfortable on his debut and rose to the physical demands of the Premier League. It was a pleasant surprise to see just how well he adapted. 7
Patrick Dorgu
A few sloppy passes. He did not look any better as a right-wing-back than he did on the left. He delivered one good cross into the box but was booked. 6
Manuel Ugarte
A combative midfield performance. He broke up play well but was sloppy with his passing. We’ve heard that about him before. 6
Christian Eriksen
A regular threat from set-pieces and nearly scored from both a corner and a free-kick. Conceded the free-kick from which Wolves took the lead. 6
Harry Amass

Hide AdHe impressed with his delivery into the box and made some key blocks at the other end. He’s ready for further first-team opportunities. 7
Alejandro Garnacho
He threatened a few times and should have had an assist when his low cross somehow evaded Hojlund. Got much better as the game went on. 6
Kobbie Mainoo
He covered a lot of ground and sent a good effort just wide of the far post. It is clear that he is best suited to one of the attacking midfield roles. 6
Rasmus Hojlund
He engaged in a few physical duels but positioned himself poorly in the box. An inexcusable decision in the second half to slow down play and selfishly run at the goal. 3
Diogo Dalot

Hide AdA bright impact from the bench. He provided an out ball on the right flank and linked up with his teammates well. 6
Bruno Fernandes
It didn’t take long for him to dictate the match and become central to United’s play. He wasted a good chance to give United the lead from a Garnacho cross. 6
Mason Mount
He wasted a glorious opportunity to equalise when he let back and fired over the bar. He always looked to get involved. 5
Chido Obi
An impressive impact with his hold-up play. He offered more of a presence in the final third than Hojlund had. 6
Leny Yoro

Hide AdHe came on in the aftermath of the goal and had little defending to do. The fact he started on the bench showed how important he has become. 6
