Ruben Amorim includes 16-year-old star in first Manchester United travelling squad
Man Utd face Ipswich Town in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon and here is the early team news.
Ruben Amorim has included 16-year-old defender Godwill Kukonki in his first Manchester United matchday squad for their trip to face Ipswich Town on Sunday afternoon.
The Portuguese head coach is set to take charge of United for the first time at Portman Road and could give youth a chance with teenager Kukonki included in their travelling party for the match.
Kukonki was pictured arriving at the stadium with the rest of the first-team squad but has missed out on a place in the final matchday squad amid an ongoing injury crisis. Matthijs de Ligt and Jonny Evans start at centre-back alongside Noussair Mazraoui.
Summer signing Leny Yoro has yet to make his competitive debut for the club since returning from injury, while there are doubts over the fitness of Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw following their recent rehabilitation into training. Harry Maguire is a long-term injury concern, while Victor Lindelof and Lisandro Martinez both suffered setbacks during the international break.
Kukonki has been training with the United first-team all week and has already caught the eye of the new head coach as he looks to implement a tactical approach that favours three centre-backs. The 16-year-old has been a regular for United at U18s level since signing his scholarship in the summer and is capable of playing at left-back as well as a more traditional central role.
