Roy Keane slammed Manchester United after their ‘lucky’ penalty shootout win against Coventry City in the FA Cup semi-final.

United had led 3-0 with twenty minutes left of the tie but inexplicably threw away a three-goal lead and were fortunate to even reach the penalty shootout after Victor Torp’s last-gasp goal was ruled out for offside. Rasmus Hojlund and Andre Onana were the heroes as United eventually won the shootout 4-2, but the manner of their humiliating collapse left a sour taste in the mouth at the full-time whistle.

United were fortunate not to be further punished for their disgraceful display in the closing stages of the match and legendary midfielder Keane didn’t hold back in his analysis of the match.

“Coventry looked like a Premier League team and Manchester United looked like a Championship side,” he told ITV Sport. “The Manchester United players and supporters weren't going over the top because they were lucky to win. They were almost embarrassed in the end. I don't like what I see when I watch this United group. I don't see leaders.

“They give up chances, they give up goals, we've seen it all season. My goodness, they rode their luck at the end.

"The substitutions, the goal gave Coventry belief and all of a sudden they looked like a Premier League team in extra-time and United looked like a Championship team."

United will face Man City in a repeat of last season’s FA Cup final next month.
