The shocking Premier League table since Ruben Amorim joined Man United

Manchester United are on course for their worst-ever Premier League finish with the Red Devils sat way down in 14th with just six games remaining.
Ruben Amorim’s side were beaten 4-1 at Newcastle United on Sunday, as they suffered their 14th defeat of the campaign. They are on 38 points from their first 32 games and can only finish on a maximum of 56 points. However, current form suggests that a bottom half finish is on the cards.

Man United boss Ruben Amorim ‘caught out’ by competitive Premier League
Former Red Devils midfielder Roy Keane believes the competitiveness of the Premier League will have come as a surprise to Amorim. He said on Sky Sports after the 4-1 loss at Newcastle: "I think the Premier League has caught this manager and his coaching staff out. I know people do their homework before they go to a club but I think he's gone in there and been shocked at how bad this group of players are.

"You don't know the quality of a group of players until you get in the door and start working with them. Of course you do your little bit of homework from the outside looking in and you'd have a bit of pride and ego thinking you could improve the players. That's a manager's job. But over the last couple of years the recruitment has been about bringing in players that haven't played in the Premier League and it seems to have caught a lot of them out.

Premier League table under Ruben Amorim results only
Since Amorim began his role with United in November, only four teams have had a worse points total. West Ham United have gained the same number of points in that time but have got a worse goal difference. Tottenham Hotspur have two fewer points, as their struggles in the Premier League continue to be well documented. Ipswich Town, Leicester City and Southampton are the only three sides with significantly worse records with all three teams set to be relegated. The Saints relegation has already been confirmed.
