Patrice Evra has warned ‘one man cannot do everything’ ahead of Erik ten Hag’s arrival as Manchester United manager.

The Dutchman will be officially unveiled as the new United boss on Monday, replacing Ralf Rangnick, who will now move upstairs and undertake a consultancy role at the club.

But ahead of Ten Hag taking up the reins at Old Trafford, Evra said he is not getting ‘carried away’ by the appointment, adding the arrivals of previous managers have been greeted with similar fanfare, only for that hope to quickly die away.

The Frenchman was speaking to ManchesterWorld after taking part in Saturday’s legends charity game between a side of United and Liverpool greats, with the latter winning 3-1 at Old Trafford.

Evra wasn’t short of opinions following the game and added fuel to the fire in his ongoing feud with Pep Guardiola, before being quizzed on his opinion of United’s new boss.

“I think we should stop everything [the talk] about the manager,” the former full-back told ManchesterWorld.

“One man cannot do everything. I will be in full support to any manager when they come to Man United. But it’s for so many years.

“Now, that’s where we are, the United fans are hoping [for] a new manager, we get excited, and then after we want him out.

“I know we had a really bad season. The players have to focus on pre-season, but Ten Hag has tough work to do. He will need support from the board, the players and the fans.

“I’m not someone who gets carried away and happy because we bring a new manager. We bring like five new managers and still we are in the same position.”

Ten Hag watched on as United lost 1-0 away to Crystal Palace on the final day of the 2021/22 season, as the Red Devils once again put in an abject performance.

However, West Ham United failing to beat Brighton & Hove Albion means United finished sixth and will play in the Europa League next season.
