Man Utd could hand debuts to summer signings Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui in the Premier League opening fixture.

Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui could both make their Manchester United debut when they face Fulham in the first Premier League fixture of the new season this weekend.

United kickstart the new top-flight league campaign when they host Fulham at Old Trafford on Friday night and there could be a new-look to Erik ten Hag's side for the encounter with Joshua Zirkzee also likely to be involved.

De Ligt and Mazraoui both underwent their respective medicals on Monday and are in line to be involved in the match, as long as there aren't any unforeseen issues with those tests.

They will both be eligible to play as long as their deals are ratified by the Premier League before midday the day before the match. It means United have until 12pm BST on Thursday to have the pair officially registered by the respective authorities.

United accelerated plans to sign another centre-back following Leny Yoro's injury blow, with the French defender set for three months on the sidelines after he underwent surgery on a foot injury. Mazraoui has been lined up to replace full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, who has agreed to join West Ham United in a permanent deal.

Ten Hag's side are set to switch their focus to signing another midfielder before deadline day, with Burnley ace Sander Berge a candidate after they reached a standstill with Paris Saint-Germain over their approach for Manuel Ugarte.
