Marcus Rashford returned to Manchester United training on Tuesday ahead of the midweek Premier League clash against Chelsea.

The attacker missed the win over Wolverhampton Wanderers two weeks ago due to a minor injury and was seen in training last week, leading to an assumption he would be fit in time for the trip to Bournemouth on Saturday. However, illness prevented Rashford from featuring at the Vitality as the Red Devils won 1-0 thanks to Casemiro’s strike after nine minutes.

Therefore, it’s once again hoped Rashford will be available for the clash against Frank Lampard’s men on Thursday, a game United hope will secure their Champions League qualification for next season. Erik ten Hag’s side need just one more point from the final two matches of the campaign to guarantee a top-four finish.

Rashord has made 53 appearances for United this season, a tally only David de Gea and Bruno Fernandes can better. The England international has also netted 29 times this term, but has scored just once in his last seven games and has only bagged two in 10.

His lack of proficiency in recent weeks has impacted the team and in the last eight matches United have managed just six goals.

In Rashford’s absence against Wolves and Bournemouth, United started with a front three of Antony, Anthony Martial and Jadon Sancho. Ten Hag could stick with the same trio for the visit of Chelsea, although Rashford’s potential return and the availability of Alejandro Garnacho could impact that decision.
