Manchester United face West Ham United on Saturday at 3pm, in a game that could be crucial for both sides’ hopes of a top-four finish.

It’s the Hammers who currently occupy the final Champions League spot, although they have played more games than the chasing pack.

So far, United have picked up 35 points from 21 games, while David Moyes’s men are on 37 points from 22 games. Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal are also in the hunt for fourth place, with Wolverhampton Wanderers in with an outside chance as well.

This is the third time United and West Ham have met each other this season with the Red Devils winning the league fixture at the London Stadium 2-1 in September, before the Irons won 1-0 at Old Trafford in the League Cup a few days later.

Ralf Rangnick’s men were in action in midweek with an impressive second-half performance earning them a 3-1 win over Brentford, thanks to goals from Anthony Elanga, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford.

It ensures the German continues his record of just one loss so far from nine games in charge, and there have been encouraging signs from recent games against Aston Villa and Brentford.

Meanwhile, West Ham should feel more rested than United with the London club last in action on Sunday when they lost 3-2 to Leeds United.

Speaking in Friday’s pre-match press conference, Rangnick confirmed Victor Lindelof is set to miss out after a recent break-in at his family home.

“He told me what had actually happened and that this was a traumatic event especially for his wife and three-year-old son,” said the German.

“He said to me that he right now needs to stay at home. He doesn't want to leave his wife and family on their own, which I can fully understand, being a father of two children myself. We agreed that he will not be training today and won't be available tomorrow for the game.”

Rangnick also said Sancho remains a doubt after a recent family bereavement, which saw him miss Wednesday's win over Brentford.

"Jadon didn't train because he still asked to be able to not train," Rangnick explained. "He attended the funeral on Wednesday. It's still affected him quite a lot. He's expected back today at three o'clock. Right now, I'm not sure if he will be available because it was an important member of the family, someone he was close to all his life. We've got to wait and see and speak after training."

The club’s official website also confirmed Luke Shaw will miss out through injury, while illness means Aaron Wan-Bissak won’t be involved. There’s also doubt surrounding the availability of Edinson Cavani after he missed the Brentford game in midweek.

Paul Pogba won’t have recovered from a hamstring problem in time to face the Hammers, and Jesse Lingard is unlikely to be part of the squad as speculation continues to mount about his future.

However, there’s better news regarding Scott McTominay, who Rangnick confirmed should be fit for Saturday, despite being replaced through injury in the latter stages at the Brentford Community Stadium.

As for West Ham, they have concerns in the centre of midfield with Tomas Soucek and Mark Noble doubts for the trip to Manchester.

Said Benrahma isn’t likely to be involved despite Algeria being eliminated from the Africa Cup of Nations on Thursday, while centre-back Angelo Ogbanna remains absent through injury and Kurt Zouma is unlikely to have recovered in time.
