Following an abysmal season, new Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag will be looking to improve the club in every department next season.

Ten Hag’s predecessor Ralf Rangnick will not take up his consultancy role now and instead solely focus on his managerial job as the Austria national team coach.

The 63-year-old was unable to make a positive impact at the club, winning only 38% of his games in charge.

The United board will hope Ten Hag can start fast and he will need plenty of reinforcements in the summer transfer window to do so.

Club statement on Goram

Former United keeper Andy Goram has revealed he has terminal cancer.

The 58-year-old told the Daily Record he 'will fight like never before' and that doctors have told him to 'enjoy everyday life and be as normal as possible'.

Goram signed on loan at United in the 2000-2001 season where he made two appearances for the club.

United legend Sir Alex Ferguson gave Goram his first Scotland cap in 1985 and he went on to make 43 appearances for the national side.

Nunez transfer link

Benfica forward Darwin Nunez is reportedly at the top of United’s summer wish list and the club are 'extremely close' to signing the player.

The 22-year-old scored 34 goals across all competitions last season and impressed many with his displays against Liverpool.

International teammate Edison Cavani looks set to leave Old Trafford and it would seem Nunez would fill the void left by him.

Torres latest

The Mirror have reported that representatives of Pau Torres were in England over the weekend to discuss a potential move for the Spaniard. The defender has been linked with a move to United and Chelsea.

The Red Devils have been following the progression of the 25-year-old for some time, with former boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a big admirer of the centre-back.

It is believed that United are now in pole position to secure the signature of the Spaniard.
