Man Utd have loaned the defender out until the end of the season and he might never play for the club again.

Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia has completed his loan move to PSV Eindhoven for the remainder of the season, with the option to make the move permanent. The 25-year-old has struggled for playing time since his return from a horrific injury ordeal and was viewed as surplus to requirements under Ruben Amorim.

PSV will cover Malacia's wages in full for the rest of the season and the Dutch club reportedly have the option to sign him permanently for just £8millon in the summer. It has also been claimed United have a 30 percent sell-on clause for any future sale.

Malacia became Erik ten Hag's first signing at the club when he joined from Feyenoord in a £13m deal three years ago. He made 47 appearances during his time at Old Trafford but fell further down the pecking order following the arrival of Lecce defender Patrick Dorgu in the January transfer window. Even if PSV does not trigger their option to sign Malacia permanently, he is expected to be sold this summer.

Looking forward to a fresh start

Speaking after he was unveiled as a PSV player on deadline day of the Dutch window, Malacia spoke of his delight to be given a new opportunity to prove himself after his injury hell.

"I'm happy to be here. Finally playing good football again," he said. "I am coming off a long injury, but by now I am fit and know that my time will come again. In every tough period there are also positive elements and in this case that is that I have become much stronger physically and mentally. I have more patience, am more mature, know my body better and things like that. I'm ready to pop and hopefully win several prizes with PSV."

PSV director of football Earnest Stewart added: "We are very happy to welcome with Tyrell a player who can be of immediate value for PSV. Tyrell has a lot of experience at the highest level and is also a player with a lot of potential. We look forward to seeing him in action."
