'Comfortable and confident' - Manchester United should be worried by what Brighton stars said after win

Man Utd were beaten 3-1 in the Premier League by Brighton on Sunday afternoon.
Another home match, another defeat. After their 3-1 home loss to Brighton, Manchester United have now lost 10 of their 22 Premier League matches this season, the earliest they have hit double figures in a campaign since 1989/90.
Sir Alex Ferguson was the manager back then, and although hopes are high for Ruben Amorim to finally bring success to the club, United are in a very different position now than they were back then under the legendary former manager.
United were fortunate to overcome Southampton relatively unscathed in midweek and knew a huge improvement was required for the visit of Brighton on Sunday afternoon. They didn't produce one and it was no surprise they were deservedly beaten again.
What is so damning is not just that United lost again, but that Brighton came to Old Trafford with so much belief they would win. "We've had a good record over them over the years. Long may that continue," Brighton captain Lewis Dunk glowed at full-time. "We were comfortable at the end, we didn't give them any chances at the end all game. We were comfortable, we pressed them at the end. We have learned, to win a game of football, it doesn't have to be pretty to win a game."
Those thoughts were echoed by striker Georginio Rutter, who was confident his side could come to United and win. It helped that Andre Onana gifted him the goal that sealed the three points. He added: "We are happy, very happy. We were a bit disappointed about Christmas time, the whole period because we didn’t get more points. We came back in 2025 very good and with confidence. We are happy with three points today. It’s a good set of fans here, it’s hard to play here. But today we stayed very, very calm today, with confidence. This is why you don’t have to be stressful to play our football. Today was ok."
It was not okay for United and Amorim.
