Manchester United player ratings: Four 7/10s save blushes of 'awful' 3/10 who could be replaced this summer

Bruno Fernandes and Harry Maguire shone as the 10-men of Manchester United came from behind to defeat Ipswich Town 3-2 in the Premier League.
Ruben Amorim made two changes to the starting line up from the weekend draw with Everton as Leny Yoro and Alejandro Garnacho replaced Noussair Mazraoui and Casemiro in the side. It didn't take long for Ipswich to take the lead when Jaden Philogene capitalised on a horrendous mix-up between Patrick Dorgu and Andre Onana to tap the ball into an empty net.

Hide AdIpswich remained on top after the goal but failed to make their dominance count and soon found themselves level when captain Sam Morsy turned the ball into his own net from a brilliant Bruno Fernandes free-kick. United were rallied by the equaliser and soon completed their comeback when Matthijs de Ligt converted from close range after a corner routine.
The game sparked into life again when Dorgu was shown a straight red card for a reckless challenge on Omari Hutchinson and minutes later Ipswich drew level when Philogene's cross evaded everyone in the box and found the far corner.
Against all the odds, it was the 10-men of United who started brightest after the restart and they took an early lead when Harry Maguire headed in from another Fernandes corner. Yoro and Joshua Zirkzee both worked their socks off as United dug deep to withstand their Ipswich pressure and ensured they posed an attacking threat of their own on the counter-attack.
In the end, what threatened to be another disastrous night proved to be a delightful one as United held on to record a rare Premier League home win under Amorim. Here is how we rated the players:
Manchester United player ratings vs Ipswich
Andre Onana - 3

Hide AdAn awful performance. He has to take a lot of blame for both of the Ipswich goals. He's not been an improvement on David de Gea and Amorim could look to replace him this summer.
Harry Maguire - 7
His performance was about so much more than just his goal. He defended well throughout and also played a key role in their second goal of the night.
Matthijs De Ligt - 6
He reacted well to give United the lead but was outsmarted by Liam Delap as Ipswich drew level. Defended resolutely as United looked to hold onto their advantage.
Leny Yoro - 7
He moved the ball well and posed a threat at both ends of the pitch. It could well be his best performance in a United shirt so far.
Diogo Dalot - 5

Hide AdAnother match in which he struggled. He was beaten far too easily but was there when his team needed him most. He might not be a good fit for this system, but he is almost always available.
Bruno Fernandes - 7
The inspiration behind a United comeback for the second time in a matter of days. He is still their most influential player and played a role in all three goals.
Manuel Ugarte - 5
He broke up play well at times but United needed more than that from him in central midfield. He relished the scrappy nature of the tie towards the end.
Patrick Dorgu - 4
A calamitous mistake to gift Ipswich the lead. He responded well before an unacceptable red card that could have cost his team.
Joshua Zirkzee - 7

Hide AdHe held the ball up well and connected play but didn't offer any real goal threat. The story of his time at the club. He can’t be criticised for a lack of effort.
Alejandro Garnacho - 5
It was harsh to remove him after the red card but Amorim’s controversial decision was vindicated by how they played afterwards.
Rasmus Hojlund - 3
Another ineffectual attacking performance in which he failed to pose any meaningful threat. A bizarre decision to dummy the ball in the box rather than take a shot.
Noussair Mazraoui - 6
A good performance from the bench despite lacking sharpness. He is a valuable player for Amorim and proved his worth yet again.
Casemiro - 6

Hide AdUnited were more defensive with him on the pitch but that was not a bad thing as they protected a lead with a man disadvantage.
Christian Eriksen and Victor Lindelof - N/A
The duo were both introduced in the final minute of the match and did not have enough time on the pitch to be fairly rated.
