It is no surprise to see Manchester United linked with a host of Sporting stars following their capture of head coach Ruben Amorim.
The 39-year-old arrives at Old Trafford with plenty of excitement after his work with the Portuguese club, with his stock at an all-time high after his side dismantled Man City in the Champions League earlier in the month. Viktor Gyökeres and Ousmane Diomande are two of the names to have already been linked with a move to Old Trafford, while teenage winger Geovany Quenda is being monitored, interest that pre-dates their appointment of Amorim.

Hide AdQuenda currently looks like the Sporting star most likely to follow Amorim to United, with the 17-year-old viewed as an exceptional young talent who fits their transfer strategy even without the links to the new head coach.
ManchesterWorld revealed back in May, United are also looking to save millions by signing highly-rated teenagers as early as possible. While much of their focus is on securing homegrown talent, players like Quenda are viewed as exceptions, given their market value is only anticipated to rise in the coming years.
Quenda turns 18 in April, so could be an ideal summer signing for United, though any move is likely to depend on raising funds from player sales, with the financial situation still tight amid a very real threat of missing out on Champions League qualification once again.
The Portugal international has been utilised as an inverted option on the right wing under Amorim so far this season, and could work either as a wing-back or one of the two attackers behind a striker. He has already been likened to Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka for his talent, work ethic and tendency to cut inside onto his dominant left foot. Last month, he broke Cristiano Ronaldo's record to become Sporting's youngest ever goal scorer and he also holds the record as the youngest player to start in the Champions League for the Portuguese club.

Hide AdIt was revealed earlier this week, United are unlikely to make significant movement in the January transfer window with player exits set to be prioritised over new arrivals. Amorim will not be given a large budget to work with and will have to wait until next summer before if he is given the chance to shape the first-team squad into his own vision. Although he is not set to have the same influence on transfers as Erik ten Hag did in his managerial role, the new head coach will still have some influence on who comes and goes, with sporting director Dan Ashworth and technical director Jason Wilcox tasked to complete those deals.
