Fabrizio Romano reveals Ruben Amorim's first Manchester United transfer target with two names on list

Man Utd head coach Ruben Amorim could be backed with funds to strengthen his side in the January transfer window.

Ruben Amorim is already targeting the addition of a new left-sided defender at Manchester United ahead of the January transfer window.

ManchesterWorld revealed this week United could make a loan move for a left wing-back in the upcoming transfer window, with the position viewed as a priority to strengthen next summer.

It is news that has been reiterated by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who says signing a new wing-back is crucial to Amorim as he looks to implement his 3-4-3 formation as quickly as possible.

“Left back is a priority position," Romano told his YouTube channel. "In 2025, Man Utd want to sign an important left-back. Amorim wants a top left-footed player in that position. Let me say clearly today that Man Utd are working on a new, important left-back or left-wingback. For sure United will do something there.”

Romano even went on to name two players who are already on their shortlist in the shape of Bournemouth star Milos Kerkez and Bayern Munich ace Alphonso Davies. However, Romano warned they will have to be quick if they want to sign Kerkez, with Liverpool also showing interest in the full-back.

He added: “They are monitoring Kerkez, even before Amorim, so is from the scouting, is Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth. It’s not only Kerkez or Davies, there are also other names they are monitoring. Liverpool are also monitoring him and Richard Hughes, Liverpool director, knows him so well from his time at Bournemouth.”
