Manchester United 'consider' four loan moves as deals 'set to be arranged'
Manchester United are weighing up some loan moves for some of their upcoming stars
As Manchester United weigh up the possibility of acquiring players on loan during the transfer window they are also said to be working on temporary deals to send out some of their younger stars for more senior experience.
Ethan Ennis is one player who was recently sent out on loan as he joined Doncaster Rovers until the end of the season. He was involved for the League Two club at the weekend as they knocked Championship side Hull City out of the FA Cup. After the game, the player said on social media: “Enjoyable first few days at Doncaster. Fantastic feeling to make my debut and get through to the next round.”
Sonny Aljofree is with Accrington Stanley but was an unused substitute as the fourth-tier club lost 4-0 to Liverpool. Rhys Bennett is spending this season with Fleetwood Town and has made 13 EFL appearances for the club.
United exploring other loan deals
According to the Manchester Evening News, Dan Gore, Harry Amass, Ethan Wheatley and Ethan Williams are all ‘under consideration’ for loan moves this month. Gore has been battling injury and is set for a move in order to build up his minutes again. He did move to Port Vale 12 months ago but only made one appearance before his stint was cut short by injury. Amass is said to be attracting interest having featured for United in pre-season. He was named in the senior squad six times last season but has yet to play. He has featured in four matchday squads this term - two in the Premier League and two in the Europa League. He has made seven appearances in Premier League 2 this season for United’s Under-21s while also appearing in the UEFA Youth League and EFL Trophy.
Wheatley has been a regular for United’s Under-21s with six goals in eight Premier League 2 games. He has also played three times in the UEFA Youth League, scoring once. Williams has featured nine times in all competitions - scoring four times and providing two assists.
Collyer to remain
In other news exclusively revealed by Manchester World, United intend to keep Toby Collyer at the club for the remainder of the season after they had considered a potential loan exit for him this month. Collyer played 39 minutes as a substitute at the Emirates on Sunday and made a key contribution to the match with his energy and athleticism as 10-man United held on to force a penalty shootout that they eventually won.
The young midfielder was identified for a first-team role by former manager Erik ten Hag last summer but suffered a setback when he was sidelined through injury that saw him miss over a month of action. It was unclear where the former Brighton youngster would fit in under Ruben Amorim, though it is understood he has made a positive on the new head coach and is set to be given further opportunities in the coming weeks.
He earned praise from United legend Rio Ferdinand for his performance against Arsenal, as the ex-defender said: “Toby Collyer was excellent when he came on, the energy levels were huge, through the roof. Testament to him.”
