Manchester United 'close' to free agent signing - plan to send him out on loan this summer

Man Utd will focus on strengthening their academy in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are in talks to sign teenage striker Enzo Kana-Biyik in the summer transfer window. The 18-year-old is out of contract with French club Le Havre at the end of the season and looks poised to move to Old Trafford as a free agent.

A report from L’Équipe claims a deal is 'close' to completion, while Le Parisien report Kana-Biyik has already agreed a deal with United but will spend next season out on loan. They suggest the teenage striker will move to Swiss club Lausanne, which is also owned by Ineos. His detailed progression plan is viewed as a key factor why he will move to United instead of Monaco or Marseille.

Manchester World understand Kana-Byik will be a signing in a similar mould to fellow teenagers Sekou Kone and Diego Leon. United signed Kone from Guidars FC last summer and have given him time to settle in at academy level, while Leon is expected to join up with the U21s when he completes his move from Cerro Porteño this summer.

Who is Enzo Kana-Biyik?

Name: Enzo Kana-Biyik

Date of Birth: 8 January, 2007 (18)

Position: Striker

Club: Le Havre

Nationality: France and Cameroon

Enzo Kana-Biyik is a highly-rated striker who has played for French club Le Havre throughout various youth levels. He is the son of former Cameroon international André Kana-Biyik, who also played for Le Havre, and his uncle is François Omam-Biyik, who famously scored the winner when Cameroon defeated defending world champions Argentina in the opening match of the 1990 World Cup.

Kana-Biyik has earned first-team recognition at Le Havre and has been named on the bench by head coach Didier Digard, but has never made a first-team appearance for the club, who are currently 16th in Ligue 1. It would no be the first time United have raided Le Havre for a talented teenage talent after they famously signed Paul Pogba from the French club's academy when he was only 16.
