Ruben Amorim will hope to end his first season in charge of the club with a piece of silverware and there is an extra incentive to win the prize given the club's tight financial situation.

United booked their place in the fifth round of the competition with a victory over Arsenal last month before they came from behind to defeat Leicester last Friday night. United will discover their next opponents when the fifth round draw takes place on Monday night.

How much United could earn from FA Cup win

United received £115,000 in prize money when they beat Arsenal away in round three and were handed another £120,000 when they defeated Leicester at home last week. It means they have already pocketed £235,000 from the run, with a lot more money still up for grabs.

If United win in the fifth round they will be handed a further £225,000 while a quarter-final victory would be worth another £450,000. The two teams who win in the FA Cup semi-final receive £1million in prize money. The runners-up are handed a further £1m in prize money and the winners take home a total of £2m.

United in danger of PSR breach

United announced an operating loss of £6.9m for the first quarter of the 2024-25 financial year due to their absence from the Champions League as well as costs related to their redundancy program. Last month, United admitted they are "in danger" of breaching the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR), having reported losses before tax of £312.9 million over the last three years.

"We are currently making a significant loss each year totalling over £300 million in the past three years," the club said in a letter sent to fans groups in response to concerns over rising ticket prices. "This is not sustainable and if we do not act now we are in danger of failing to comply with PSR/FFP (Financial Fair Play) requirements in future years and significantly impacting our ability to compete on the pitch. We will get back to a cash positive position as soon as possible and we will have to make some difficult choices to get there."
