The Red Devils have also bounced back from an opening day defeat in the Europa League, so things are looking up as the season begins to unwind.

United will return to action next week when they take on dangerous-looking rivals Manchester City, and that should be a real litmus test for ten Hag’s men.

In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Old Trafford.

De Jong opens up

Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong has made it clear he never wanted to join United in the summer.

The Red Devils tried to sign the Dutch midfielder all summer, but they failed to wrap up a deal, with de Jong resisting talks.

During international duty with the Netherlands this week, de Jong opened up on the situation.

He said, as cited by The Sun: “I always wanted to stay at Barcelona and this is why I always remained calm in the summer.”

De Jong remains tied down to a long-term contract at Camp Nou, and it seems he has no plans of leaving any time soon.

United have been linked with a surprise move for Tottenham superstar Harry Kane.

According to Fichajes, United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are all interested in a move for the England striker.

Kane is still under contract until 2024, but if he is not going to sign a new contract, Tottenham may be better off selling before the final year of his contract.

Having said that, Kane may well stay if Tottenham are going to compete for a title, something they may be capable of this season.
