Man Utd tipped for Harry Kane transfer move as Frenkie de Jong opens up on summer transfer situation
All the latest Manchester United transfer news and rumours as Erik ten Hag’s men jet off for international duty.
Manchester United are awaiting their return to action as the international break takes hold.
Erik ten Hag’s men have put together an interesting start to the season, struggling initially before picking up significantly with some positive league form.
United will return to action next week when they take on dangerous-looking rivals Manchester City, and that should be a real litmus test for ten Hag’s men.
In the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding Old Trafford.
De Jong opens up
Barcelona star Frenkie de Jong has made it clear he never wanted to join United in the summer.
The Red Devils tried to sign the Dutch midfielder all summer, but they failed to wrap up a deal, with de Jong resisting talks.
During international duty with the Netherlands this week, de Jong opened up on the situation.
He said, as cited by The Sun: “I always wanted to stay at Barcelona and this is why I always remained calm in the summer.”
De Jong remains tied down to a long-term contract at Camp Nou, and it seems he has no plans of leaving any time soon.
According to Fichajes, United, Chelsea and Bayern Munich are all interested in a move for the England striker.
Kane is still under contract until 2024, but if he is not going to sign a new contract, Tottenham may be better off selling before the final year of his contract.
Having said that, Kane may well stay if Tottenham are going to compete for a title, something they may be capable of this season.
